Company Size
There are two ways to segment prospect data lists by company size; by turnover or employee size.
The key issues with selecting b2b data lists by company turnover are (a) the age of the information and (b) many companies are not required to file accounts. Therefore Responsiva recommends the use of employee size when sourcing business data lists. Facts & figures to consider when purchasing b2b prospect data from a list broker:
- 53% of business lists have less than 5 employees.
- 31.5% of prospect lists have 5 - 20 employees.
- 15.5% of data lists have more than 20 employees.
Depending on the Market Sector (e.g. Finance, Manufacturing etc) Responsiva can apply a "turnover per employee" ratio to your chosen business list.
About Responsiva
With a fifteen year Account Director background in the marketing database industry, Toby Harris formed Responsiva in 2003. For the first five years of the business Responsiva offered telephone marketing and mailing data services. More than one million outbound telephone calls were made on behalf of commercial customers, across all industry sectors.
These services enabled a fantastic analytical learning of the types of business data which are most responsive to marketing campaigns. This learning is applied today for customers, ensuring them not only great prospect lists but also the most likely prospects to respond to their marketing.
The core competency of Responsiva today is not just data knowledge, but also a total dedication to ensuring 100% customer satisfaction throughout the full process of dealing with us.
Company Date Established
Marketing data lists may be selected by the business established data at premise.
This has two key applications
The first is to select a prospect list of companies who commenced trading within (say) the last year. This has particular relevance for accountants who are seeking to target a business data list of companies who have not filed their first year's accounts.
The second is for companies seeking a prospect list of companies of a certain age. For example, premises built before the year 2000 have an associated asbestos management legislation.
There are some pitfalls with a marketing data list selected in this way because it includes business relocations and new company branches. But a directorship job title can weed out the branches.
Business Groups & Market Sectors
From the 2,000 distinct industry classifications, mailing data spans eight Business Groups:
- Service Sector
- Retail
- Transport
- Food & Drink
- Agriculture
- Manufacturing
- Construction
- Materials & Chemicals
A prospect mailing list may target any combination of these groups, or drill down further into their respective market sectors, of which there are over 100 business data headings.
The retail sector includes prospect data lists of all industries whereby a consumer may enter to purchase a product or service. Not just "shops", but also restaurants, garages and opticians.
The Service Sector is perhaps the most diverse in b2b data list terms, covering not just business services but also the Finance, Medical, Education and Government market sectors.
