Atherstone business data lists are sourced from the postcode district CV9 and number 450 records.
Because data lists can be segmented by other variables (industry, company size, premise type to name three) it is better to start your prospect selection with a wider territory.
In profiling the full CV postal area nearly seventeen thousand business data lists are available for marketing. 26% of these businesses are registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and therefore cannot be telephoned for marketing purposes. The corporate TPS file was set up in 2004 to help the small business avoid being bombarded with inbound marketing calls which prevent the business from operating freely.
Perhaps most interesting of all however is that of the 26% of TPS registrants, the breakdown by employee size is as follows:
- 30% of companies with less than 10 employees (in the CV area) are on the TPS file
- 14% of companies with ten or more employees (in the CV area) are on the TPS file
Therefore some of the larger companies are taking advantage of registering themselves with the TPS, even though many actually perform outbound telephone marketing sales calls from data lists themselves. And most hypocritical of all are the outbound telemarketing companies who’s sole operation is geared around making marketing calls, when registering themselves with the TPS file to decline receipt of marketing calls themselves. Unethical in my view.
When businesses are registered with the TPS file, they are better sourced as mailing lists for marketing purposes as there is nothing to stop you from contacting them by post.
